Hello,
It's not the same as Avira Free but Lavasoft Helix IS based upon Avira technology so there will be some similarities you will see

. It uses the Avira engine but the products are different. The features in Helix are listed here:
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/lavasoft_....php?t=featuresThere is a 30 day free trial of it available here:
http://www.lavasoft.com/trial_center/And the announcement of this new product released appears in the Lavasoft Blog here:

It looks exactly like a rebranded version Antivir Premium (at a great price), yet you mention that the products are different. Any way to elaborate on what aspects are different?
My main question is in regards to adware/spyware protection. In your first link it mentions "adware" but nothing about spyware, and reading the pdf linked on that page it makes no reference to either, focusing rather on viruses, trojans and rootkits. So is ad/spyware protection crippled at all compared to Antivir Premium?
Thanks.

Yes, I agree with Chia. It looks more like the Antivir Premium Security Suite...is it any better? Or are they the same?
It even used "Antivir" in one of its popup windows. See the link below of Chia's post:

Hello chia, apocalypse
Welcome to the forum. Nice to see you trying it out!
I don't have answers to those questions about specific aspects, but I'll find someone who does.

Nevermind, I think I found my answer. Looking through the program's detection list it does seem to have the exact same spyware capabilities as its Avira cousin. Seems to be the same as the Antivir Premium version with a worse GUI (something about that blue) but a much nicer price. Rather have it that way than the other way around
