Symptom:
Ad-Aware SE freezes on startup (loading definitions), when manually loading a definition file, or when performing webupdate.

Operating System:
Windows 98

Cause:
This problem is caused by a problem with the Windows 98 temp folder environment variable. If the "autoexec.bat" contains an entry such as "set temp=c:\", then Ad-Aware SE and/or other applications freeze when attempting to use temporary space on the harddrive

Resolution:
The Windows 98 default temp folder is "c:\windows\temp". To restore this setting, open the file "autoexec.bat" with Notepad and remove the line "set temp=c:\". Restart your computer.
