In order to load a definition file manually into Ad-Aware 2008 you may follow the following steps:

1) The zipped definition files can be downloaded manually from
http://www.lavasoft.com/support/securitycenter/blog/
Just look under "DOWNLOAD Current Definition File" at the upper right corner of that page and you will find the download links, 0XXX.0000 and SE1RXXX.

2) Then in Ad-Aware 2008 click on the "Web Update" button, "Settings" and then browse to the location of the downloaded definitions file by clicking on the white square to the right of "Use Definitions file".



3) Last but not least click on the Save button to save the settings.

Troubleshooting:
When these steps are done the status window should show the correct definitions file version, if not, wait a few seconds, click on another button and then click on the Status button again to check that the correct definitions were loaded. If that does not work try restarting Ad-Aware in order to load the changes.
