Just a suggestion!

Please post your HJT logs in the HJT log forum section. http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showforum=36
And please do not post your HJT log in someone elses thread. Please start your own thread.

For those who have already posted a hjt log, here. If you are getting help, then don't repost over there. Reposting over there now will just slow things down even more, and confuse ppl by double posting.

But for those who are wanting to post a hjt log, or plan to in the future, Please post it in the correct forum, as it will likely be answered quicker.

It is a different story if you post an actual Ad-Aware support issue and with futher investigation it is found that a hjt log would be beneficial to the one helping the user/member.

It is also very beneficial to the Lavasoft staff to post an Ad-Aware SE log, so they can compare it to help them with researching for future updates.

The reason I say this is because, the HiJack This logs must be read by someone who has been trained in reading them. They need to be a malware expert to help you with it.

Therefore, not everyone trying to help in this forum are trained malware removal experts, to be able to assist you with these logs.

They volunteer their time to come in here to help out and read these logs. They are not likely to go searching thru all the forums looking for ppl who have posted their hjt logs in the wrong forum section. Which can be one of the main reasons so many ppl's request for help with this gets overlooked and why it takes so long.

From what I understand LS CalamityJane is the only one that is LS staff here, that is a Malware removal expert in regards to being trained in reading HiJack This logs. But she is one person. She is doing a FANTASTIC job from what I have seen. smile.gif But I would imagine that her first priority is to deal with the Ad-Aware support issues first, and then she gets to the HJT logs as soon as she can.

So I think it would be a GREAT help to everyone involved if everyone could try and post in the correct forums.

Thanks!

Skittles

P.S. I am posting this in both the "post your support issues here" and the "Ad-Aware SE" forum sections as it seems the majority of the misplaced HiJack This posts are being made there.

Just to add to what SkittlesPC has said.
Please See "Mandatry Ad-aware log file"

Before posting a "HijackThis" Log, you must run a scan with the latest version of Ad-Aware (build 1.06r), and ensure that you have the latest definition file by performing a webupdate once Ad-Aware is loaded.

If you do not follow these steps before posting your log, be aware that you will be instructed to do this anyway.

Hi SkittlesPC,

Thanks for posting this. Some of these are going to be added into the rules for the forum.

There are others in here helping FYI, however the requests far exceed the number of helpers and we are answering the unanswered topics from OLDEST to newest. Therefore, bumping a topic or starting a new one only delays getting a response. Please be paitent as there may be others waiting ahead of you.

And yes, we DO need the Adaware Scan log if you are posting a HijackThis log for help.

If a topic is posted in a wrong area, I will move it to the appropriate area - as I'm covering the whole forum. It's best to keep all replies in ONE single topic so we can keep up. Otherwise, I am merging topics into one thread to keep things uniform and so we aren't duplicating efforts.

Thanks for everyone's help smile.gif Much appreciated!

You are Welcome Jane!

Anything I can do to help and try and make things easier on you and the malware experts.

Do you think we should sticky both of these posts that I have, just until the new rules are posted?

It is kinda hard, in some cases, to not bump a post up, when trying to offer some help in advance, to help someone with posting a correct hjt log or to instruct them to post a AAW log, in hopes that they are all done before those of you who need to read it, get to it. Which will save you guys time in the long run. Otherwise you have to post the same thing, and then you have to wait for the next response.

Also there are so many who are posting in others posts, saying "I have the same thing", so that is bumping them up too. So it kinda throws things out of wack, in regards to the order of the posts.

Don't really know any solution, but I am trying what I can to help where I can, to make things run smoothly for everyone. wink.gif You guys are doing a GREAT job. Things seem to be improving all the time, and posts are getting answered, and its great!

CalamityJane, didn't you say something in regards to this is going to be posted in the new rules or the newsletter or something?

I must have missed it? Or has it not yet been posted?

Some of these will be in the Step-by-Step self help guide in the HijackThis logs area and other tutorials to come. These in particular you have posted are not a real pressing priority at the moment as everyone is doing a pretty job posting their topics and if they need to be moved, I will do so smile.gif

This is all a work in progress with these new Forums. Please be patient as we get things in order smile.gif
