I have AdAware free version 7.1.0.11 I use Windows XP When I tried to run AdAware I received the following message:
Application Error Exception EAccess violation in module Ad-Aware.exe @ 0014B4EC Access violation @ address 0054B4EC in module 'Ad-Aware.exe' read of address 00000294

I really don't know very much about how my computer works and don't understand what to do. Please help. Yesterday I was trying to remove items from my Start Up section and unchecked several things. Could that be part of the problem. If so, what should I do. Thanks for any help.

Just had and fixed that problem. Click on Start -> Run, and type in msconfig.

Click on the tab "Services."

Make sure the box next to "Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service" is CHECKED. Don't worry about any others.

Click "OK."

You should be prompted to restart your computer. Make sure to close any running programs, and save any documents you have open, and then go ahead and restart.

You should be good to go.

Thank you, your suggestion corrected the problem. However, the box next to Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service was already checked but I still followed through with your instructions (clicked o.k.) and then rebooted and I no longer get the error.

Appreciate you taking the time to respond to the question/problem.
