Hi, I am new to this and my computer has been running slowly. I did a scan using ad-aware and it showed that there was a critical object called redirected hostfile entry. It won't let me delete it and I think it's what is making my computer run slower.
The version of adaware is Ad-Aware 2008 Version 7.1.0.11 (free version)
OS: XP Profesional
Servicepack 3 (but not 100% sure)
I read some info that you need a highjackthis log so I created mine and attached.
Can someone please help me?
Thanks

Hello biggrin.gif
open AAW - goto ''Scanning' - 'Cleaning Engine' - enable 'Let Windows remove files at start up'
If this doesn't solve the problem - post back.

FYI - go to "Settings" not "Scanning", then select "cleaning engine" and "Let windows...".

I am having the same issue as the o/p, and this didn't work... any other suggestions? I found a thread recommending doing a system restore from an earlier point, and I have set a reset point recently, but how does one go about utilizing that feature (nothing telling you how to do that)?

Attached is my Hijack This log.

I am having the same problem and tried this, but alas it did not work. Any thing else we can try?
