Full Version: Is my Personal Firewall causing IE crashes?

I've queried MS Support about repeated IE7 crashes, and their standard recommenations indicate firewall problems but don't offer any helpful solutions.

I am a private user of Lavasoft Personal Firewall 2. I notice on the logs (open ports>attack detection) that "ie.explore.exe" appears as "out refused" around the time that I have had my crashes. I have no idea whether this is routine or not, or whether there is anything I can - or should - do about it.

Any guidelines would be most appreciated.

I have Windows XP-sp2, with MS firewall turned off. I also have Norton's AV.

Incidetnally, IE7 warns that it has detected a problem and must shut down; then it does. MS Support has lots on this precise problem, but, as I say, they point their fingers mostly at firewalls.

P.S please note that you should upgrade to the newest version of the firewall (ver 3.0) - for free smile.gif

Thanks for offering your help. Unfortunately, all my attempts at logging in are rebuffed, even after requesting my password, and getting a new one: "E-mail and password did not match. Check the spelling and try again." I did, several times.

Furthermore, I cannot find the path to upgrade (for free - as you say) my Personsl Firewall: all click points that I can see for this program lead to a purchase.

I guess that is resolved once I can log in.
