I loaded Ad-Aware 2008 (free) software on my XP machine and attempted numerous scans. The software detects many infections, but the scan table comes up empty. There is no opportunity to delete or quarantine anything... When I hit finish, there is a report of unhandled objects. What can I do to correct this?

Thanks

Hello serf biggrin.gif
open AAW main panel - navigate to settings and open the 'Scanning'Tab.
Make a screen shot and post it in your next reply.

Hi again biggrin.gif
AAW 2008 removes some malicious files during windows start-up process.
Pls run a scan and reboot.
Let me know what happens.
Cheers

Hi Raziel:

I just performed another complete scan, and the same thing happens. The scan results table is empty, but the note at the bottom of the web page says 110 items were detected . i.e., (0) critical objects, (110) privacy objects.

When I hit "finish" it tells me there are unhandled object... etc.

Ok Serf biggrin.gif
after the scan has finished you should see this...

pls open the 'Privacy Objects' tab and post a screen shot ,I'll check if there is malware or not before
we proceed .

Ok Serf
basically you've 2 options:
checkmark (tag) the items that you want to ignore >> and click 'Add to Ignore'
checkmark the items that you want to delete >> and click 'Remove`
That's all.
To value the 'Cookie' risks, have a look to the Threat Analysis Index.
I prefer to delete all cookies ;
To value the MRU risks, I delete them at the beginning - later on, when I know what they mean, I set them to
Ignore (if they are harmless, of course).

Should you come in trouble with my translation <> post back.
Hope this helps
