Hi,
After every update attempt my computer asks for a restart. If I then go to AVG control panel and go to Update options and click on save changes the restart prompt disappears in the control panel.
The update date is shown as when the update was last run, but the AV database is still showing "database is outdated" message.
Trying to update from directory is causing the same problem.
The virus database version is shown as 270.5.8/1582 (7th Aug), AVG version 8.0.138
Update log gives an error MSG:'ERRORCODE:0x0'
Also - I cannot find the aawdef file anywhere in the computer!
Help? My computer is not safe without AVG...!!!

Um...I think that you are confusing TWO programs...!
AVG8.0 (Anti-Virus Service) is NOT AdAware 2008...
Try the AVG Forum http://freeforum.avg.com/index.php?0 for AVG issues perhaps...?
BTW - you won't find the aawdef file unless you've downloaded AAW 2008.
