I also use on my computer a program called a-squared anti-malware available here: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/

running ad-aware pro with extended engine on level 3 found the a2service folder as TAI 10 malware. It is a legitimate program and this file is a core file.

The ad-aware log and copies of the two files are attached in a .zip folder

Hi Casey!

Here is some information about how the heuristic scan works: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=19734

I would recommend you to turn it off or decrease the level of the heuristic scan.

1. Execute Ad-Aware.

2. Goto Settings.

3. Goto the Scanning tab.

4. Turn off the "Use heuristics on extended scan" or decrease it to level two or one.

Thank You for your report !

Regards

Albin

Hi Albin,

Thanks for the info.

I ran another scan at heuristics level 2 and it did not pick up the false positive that time. I will also add the files to the ignore list for future scans.

Is there anyway this can be prevented from being detected (i know it's only the heuristics and that avira actually do the anti virus engine)?

Hi Casey (and Albin!),

Just a quick update - the attributes that caused the heuristic detection of the file have been removed from the detection database. Thanks for your help Casey!

Andy
