I'm trying to clean spyware off an already infected computer using AdAware. I tried to install the 2008 version, but it gave me an error about not being able to start the service because of admin restrictions. Now, I know for a fact that this is an admin account. So I tried installing 2007, which installed just fine. I ran the update, and started scanning. Unfortunately, I never got any farther. The scan ran for maybe 10 or 20 seconds and the computer rebooted. This has happened twice now. The system is an eMachines W3107, AMD Sempron 3100 and 512MB RAM. Anyone have any thoughts?

Try uninstalling 2007,

then install 2008 by logging on to an admin account (as you have done) and then right click on the installer file then click 'run as administrator'

see if that works, if it does then try scanning again.
