I have tried to do a FULL SCAN twice with the FREE version of Ad Aware 2008. It "stalls" after scanning 349388 objects each time. The second time, I let it st for 4 hours. Anybody have any ideas what is happening here?

Read my post here. It is all about scanning. If you still have problems post again.

I looked at your post. I do not run any Norton products. My scan stalls much farther than indicated in your post.

I am also experiencing the stall problem. I run a network of 7 computers and reciently upgraded from adaware 2007 to adaware 2008 on all machines. All are performing as expected except my primary machine which stalls part way through a full scan (smart scan runs fine) In each incident of stalling it says scanning archives and sits for many hours with no change other than the clock increasing in scan duration.

Stop scan button does not work and I must terminate the program by "X'ing out"

I had uninstalled and gone back to adaware 2007 and the problem still exists.

I uninstalled all other malware scanners ( spy bot snd, etc ) , turned off firewall, and then >>>
I uninstalled ALL lavasoft products, went through the entire computer removing ALL residue of the programs in All locations on this computer and re-downloaded and installed adaware 2008 from a new location.

Still, the problem is there and i cannot perform a complete scan.

Help would be appreciated

I'm having the same problem. You're lucky to have gotten to 349000 objects.............mine stalled previously at 1500 Then I deleted the program that was associated with the CLSID #..............now it stalls at 500 (all figures rounded). I have sent a note to Calamity.

I'm not sure about yours, as I have a similar problem but with free version of Ad-Aware 2007. After updating the new definitions file today 23 July 2008 I did a full scan and it "stalls" or "hung up" about 3/4 of the way through. It says "scanning 'Conditional'" and had been that way for about a 1/2 hour now.

Ad aware 2008 free version 7.1.0.10 seems to be broken. However, I uninstalled 7.1.0.10 and put 7.1.0.8 it performed the full scan and seemed to work fine, until I updated it after getting the "check your connection" error, upgarding it back to 10 the same thing happens; it just stops at a random number, whilst the timer still ticks on. I also notice that in other posts that users are using an AMD setup, as am I.

You can get 7.1.0.8 from http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-2008/3000...cdlPid=10844457 just don't update it.
