I'm running the free Ad Aware 2008 version 7.1.0.10 - I've used Ad Aware for several years, but never had any issues until I upgraded to this version. I've seen numerous postings regarding the "scan freezing" in this forum, but so far I haven't seen anyone respond that their problem has been resolved, so one of my questions is ...is there a bug in this version, and should I uninstall and download an older version until it's fixed?

I have had no issues with Smart Scan. Within a few minutes the scan completes. However, when I try to run a Full Scan, after approximately 25 seconds - no other objects add to the "Total objects scanned" tally, yet the "Scan time" continues to clock. I've let it run for as long as seven (7) hours, and nothing changes except the "Scan time", which contiues to tick away.

Any ideas on why Full Scan is not working?
Thanks

pls locate the Scanning tab in the settings and uncheck ' Deep Archive Scanning'.
Try a new full scan and let us know what happens,

Hello Raziel, and thank you for your rapid response.

I unchecked 'Deep Archive Scanning', saved the setting and tried a new full scan. After 20 seconds, the scan froze in the Current section: Deep scanning Registry, Current path and Current object also were frozen and the Scan time continued to run - after 30 minutes, still no change.

That's exactly where mine freezes. I had to send a Hijack this log in, but I haven't gotten a reply yet, so I feel your pain.

Hi Kim... looking at the numerous posts in the forum regarding "freezing" during the scan, it looks like a bunch of people are in the same boat. I've never had a problem with Ad Aware prior to this version, so it makes me wonder if there are some bugs in it. Hopefully, we'll generate a response that fixes this for us.

Hi GSI-R,
I have a Hijack this log and that file you mentioned is not on the log. I too, have the scan freezing issue.

Hello JB biggrin.gif
open your task-manager and locate the aawservice.exe.
How much K is reserved, and how high is the usage of exe from start to crash ?
