Hi Folks..

Going on Day Three...

I'm locked out of my firewall due to a password reset. I just got the program to work correctly, but while trying a unwise move of activating the configuration wizard.. This for sum unknown reason reset or my password... I did notice the password prompt but did not re-enter a password of any kind... 1 day ago I did send in a support center email,

I did see your forum reply to embowman about removing the paid copy of Lavasoft Firewall.. I tried for 9hrs. to delete the config. file to no avail... I do not want to relaod all my whole OS just to fix this issue... Can you please offer another option...?!?!?

I've been locked out for the past two days... I had to used someone else's PC just to check email and send this info.....

PS.... I do love your software by the way....!!!!!

I all so got this error message that is a totally different issue.

Hi support team...

I posted this in the Lavasoft Firewall sec. however, I see that that area may not get enough traffic for my needs....

repost

I'm hoping you folks will give me a password reset option due to the fact that I didn't forget my password, the program just reset itself.....?!?!? Plus as my web access started to fade I didn't realize that the program also was causing a premature memory dump and shut down (Jepgs attached). I just need my email back.... I understand that it has not been 24hr since my first contact but I'm getting desperate mainly because I'm waiting until I hear from your support staff to guide me before I strip the OS....

Sorry for the many posts within such a sort period of time but, I'm without the web so I have to use another's PC....

Hi folks,

I've finally was able to break through the password problem on my own..... this was managed by using the control panel/administrative tools option.... Unfortunately I still ended up reloading my (Vista) OS due to various conflicts and a complete inability to do a system restore....

I have a new question... 3weeks ago I purchased "The Shield Deluxe 2008" I believe I'm having compatibility problems with Lavasoft Firewall... Is there a work around or do I need to dump Shield Deluxe for another anti-virus software... For some reason I was able to complete updates for Lavasoft firewall until I turned on Shield Deluxe... Now I can't seem to update my Firewall... any quick help....

thanks so much,

X

Hello xrams,

It should work ok with PCsecurityshield deluxe version which doesn't include the firewall so there should not be a conflict, but if you reloaded your operating system it may have changed the hardware fingerprint which might affect your license for the Lavasoft Personal Firewall.

Contact the Support Center if you are having problems with it:
http://www.lavasoft.com/support/supportcenter/

And please give them the info necessary to help you troubleshoot whatever isn't working right.

Hi Folks...

After reading back all the posts I've made... I didn't want to leave the impression that the Lavasoft Firewall software was in anyway the root cause of my problems other than the initial password lockout problem... Moreover, the Jpeg error messages that I posted are no longer an issue after the reboot....

I'm sure the most of my issue came after trying to override administrative auth. on the OS looking to break the password...

Ok, xrams!

Thanks for letting us know smile.gif

Hello folks, I'm back...

I'll get to the point... I looks like I must partially retract the last statement I made regarding the root cause being Lavasoft. After going further with my reinstall of software the Vista OS sys. restore issue came back... I installed the Lavasoft firewall 1st... then The Shield Deluxe 2008... at this point my sys restore still gave me a restore point... that's when I posted the remark about Lavasoft not being the root cause... but, after I reinstalled the Ad ware 2008 and Webroot Spysweeper... I got this error, which by the way is the reason I felt the need to reboot the vista OS.... Please view attached Jpeg...:

xrams: Hi I send a support inquiry last night ticket # 271-0fe0da33-4159. I just wanted to say that my problem is now over as far as not being able to get on the web...
xrams: However, I now have another issue I wish to inquire about...
xrams: I forgot, I running DSL comcast..
Support Agent: PCSecurity Shield, greatly appreciates your patience we will be with you momentarily.
Support Agent: What is the issue?
xrams: I just rebooted my vista OS and reinstalled Lavasoft firewall, Shield Deluxe 2008 and now for some reason I can't do a sys. restore do to an auth. issue... I'm wondering if there is a conflict problem with your software and lavasoft...???
Support Agent: Thank you for waiting. I am sorry for the delay. I will be with you shortly.
Support Agent: I will be with you momentarily.
xrams: Please take your time... I'm in no rush... I would also add that the reason I rebooted my OS was due to not being able to do a sys restore.. but, after completing the reboot and then first installing the lavasoft firewall then Shield Deluxe the problem came back...
Support Agent: I'm sorry for the delay. I'll be right with you.
Support Agent: You will need to uninstall Adaware or lavasoft
xrams: Yes I do have both Adaware pro and Lavasoft firewall which is the same manufacture...
xrams: are you saying that I shouldv'e installed your product 1st then lavasoft...???
Support Agent: Yes you will need to uninstall them both.
Support Agent: There is a conflict between them.
xrams: I did pose this question to Lavasoft support and then indicated that there was no conflict... however, there obviously is.. are you saying that I will have to dump the lavasoft programs in order to run my vista OS cleanly...???
Support Agent: I'm sorry for the delay. I'll be right with you.
Support Agent: No I am saying you can not run ours and the lavasoft programs
xrams: So there is no work around as far as keeping both programs and being able to run vista smoothly.... I really didn't want to make a choice between the two programs... do to the fact that your support sys is much better than lavasoft.... so there is no work around or option other than going with your program over lavasoft.....
Support Agent: I will be with you momentarily.
Support Agent: Thank you for waiting. I am sorry for the delay. I will be with you shortly.
xrams: no problem....
Support Agent: There is no work around. They will not work togather.
xrams: One last request... my I have your permission to post this exchange on the Lavasoft support forums for response's from there support staff..???
Support Agent: I will be with you momentarily.
Support Agent: Thank you for waiting. I am sorry for the delay. I will be with you shortly.
Support Agent: Yes you can.
Support Agent: Is there anything else I can help you with?
xrams: thanks so much for all your help.... I will be contacting you within a few days with my choice.... thanks again....

Hi

Regarding compatibility issues between Lavasoft products and Shield Deluxe 2008.

This is the first report we have had regarding any issue and it has been forwarded to our Quality Assurance department for testing.
If we can confirm the issues and possibly release a resolution we will get back to you.

Since the Support Staff from PCSecurityShield claims their software is incompatible with Ad-Aware 2008 I will respond to that first:

Shield Deluxe 2008 is powered by Kaspersky 6.0.
Ad-Aware 2008 had an issue scanning locked files, like Kaspersky installation files and quarantined items by Kaspersky, so the scanner froze.
This error would possibly relate to Shield Deluxe 2008 as well and maybe this is what their staff is referring to.
However, the issue has been resolved and if you update to the latest version of Ad-Aware 2008 this should work.

Personal Firewall is powered by Agnitum Outpost Pro 2008.
If you use the latest version of Personal Firewall, it does contain proactive protection components, therefore installing any other alike software might hang up the system performance.

Of course, Shield Deluxe 2008 is not built exactly the same as Kaspersky but it should be possible to configure it in a similar way. See this:

To avoid potential problems with Kaspersky 6.0 you could follow the instructions below.

1. Right-click Kaspersky AV icon in the system tray. In the shortcut menu select Settings.
2. Click Protection - Trusted Zone.
3. Click the Exclusions Masks tab - Add. Make sure the Object check box is selected.
4. By the Object name click Specify.
5. Browse to the Firewall folder (by default C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Personal Firewall) and select the "Include subfolders" check box.
6. By the Component click selected.
The line should look like this:

The object will not be scanned if the following conditions are met:
Object name: C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Personal Firewall
Component: any task
7. Save your settings by clicking OK.
8. Select the Trusted applications tab.
9. Click Add and browse to the Firewall executable file: 'op_mon.exe' and 'acs.exe' (This can be done for Ad-Aware 2008 executables as well)
10. Select all the check boxes and click OK three times to save the settings.

thanks LS....

I'm going to attempt to implement this now... I will get back to you guys/girl shortly for the results of this.... hopefully after this I won't need to bother you guy/girls further...

thanks,

Hi support staff,

I tried this your above steps... and unfortunately I'm still having the problem... In view of this ongoing issue (which I'm sure is due to my lack of knowledge) and since the two programs seem to work save the restore point malfunction... I've decided too keep the programs and purchase "Acronis True Image 11" as a sub to the restore point mode... this move should close this issue.... moreover the software cost much less than the time I've invested thus far......

I'd like to thank you guys/girls for your efforts... one more question I'd like to pose.... does It make a difference in which order I install the two programs...???

thanks again,,

xrams....

PS.... Eventhou I considered this issue now closed.... If you guys/girls have any other suggestion I'm open to them....

Hi support staff,

I'm back much sooner than I thought.... I just wanted to post some jpegs of the initial problems that start happening prior to the complete shut downs and memory dumps.... These loading problems have just started again.. Please understand that this issue is intermittent at times... I can go some days without a problem an then most days I can't get to the web at all... But my email is my life line and when it's down it hurts my business.... I've contacted PCSecurityShield.com and have requested my money back since its only been 30days... But, since I was told that Lavasoft QA was working on this I'm currently unable to use yahoo mail I have to use classic... I thought these pics would help....:

this jpeg below is one of many web pages that won't load properly... It was happening to all sites, but after the last response from your staff regarding the Trusted zone the issue isn't as wide spread... I have to hit reload 5 or 6 times and even then most pages won't completely load....

I'm hoping to make a new choice for anti-virus software... I would like to get something very robust... however, what's most important is the ability to work in concert with Lavasoft adware pro and Firewall.... if you guys could give me a suggestion I'd really appreciate it.... here's what I've been looking at:

http://www.starreviews.com/Antivirus-Software.aspx

CA

Bitdefender

*Kaspersky

NOD 32

Panda

I used the above site to choose Shield Deluxe in the 1st place... the second choice was CA....

thanks

xrams

* I under stand that Kaspersky may present the same problem as Shield but I'm willing to give it a try with Lavasofts help....

Hi again

Regarding the problem with Internet access.
If it is the Firewall that is causing it:
Open the Firewall settings->Firewall->Network Rules and select the 'Firefox.exe' application from the list and click 'Edit' and select 'Always trust this application'

Regarding AV selection:
As these products practically are our competitors it is hard for us to give you any advice on this:
They are all decent products though.

First of all do not purchase a product like an Internet Security Suite or any product that includes firewall protection.
That will most certainly create compatibility problems.

Here is a list of incompatible products with Lavasoft Personal Firewall:

* ActiveArmor Firewall (nVidia Network Access Manager)
* AGAVA Firewall
* Armor2net Personal Firewall
* AtGuard
* BlackICE Defender
* Check Point Firewall
* Comodo Firewall Pro
* Danware NetOp Firewall
* F-Secure Internet Security/Antivirus
* F-Secure Internet Shield
* Jetico Personal Firewall
* Kaspersky Anti-Hacker
* Kaspersky Internet Security
* Kerio Personal Firewall
* Look 'n' Stop
* McAfee Personal Firewall
* Norton Internet Security
* Outpost Pro Firewall
* Panda Platinum Internet Security
* PC Firewall
* Quick Heal Firewall Pro
* R-TT R-Firewall
* Rising Personal FireWall
* Secret Surf Firewall
* Softwin Bitdefender Pro
* Sophos Client Firewall
* Sygate Personal Firewall
* Tiny Personal Firewall
* TheGreenBow TGB::BOB
* Trend Micro PC-cillin Firewall
* ZoneAlarm Security Suite
* BWMeter (Desksoft Network packet filter driver)
* NetLimiter Pro

LPFW does contain proactive protection components, therefore installing any other alike software might hang up the system performance.

These products needs to be configured to work with LPFW and we can provide instructions to do so:

* Avast! antivirus:
* AVG antivirus:
* Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic \ Avira Antivir Personal Premium:
* BitDefender:
* DrWeb SpiderGuard:
* F-PROT Antivirus:
* G Data AntiVirusKit:
* Kaspersky Antivirus 4.0:
* Kaspersky Antivirus 5.0:
* Kaspersky Antivirus 6.0 \ Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0:
* Kaspersky Antivirus 7.0 \ Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0:
* Active Virus Shield:
* McAfee VirusScan Home Edition
and McAfee VirusScan Professional Edition:
* NOD32:
* NOD32 (version 3.0):
* Norton Antivirus (earlier than 2005):
* Norton Antivirus 2005:
