There is already a thread running, suggesting improvements to the AdWatch Registry Changes Notifications here, so I won't touch on that aspect of the program.

But - In SE Plus' AdWatch, there was the option of opening AdAware from the AdWatch TaskBar icon by right-clicking on it.

This was a massively useful feature as it removed the need for an AdAware Desktop Icon.
Or in my case, opening the Desktop Folder called "Systems Tools", then opening the next folder therein called "Disinfectant", and then opening AdAware... rolleyes.gif

Me...me...me...I want this feature added to AAW 2008 Plus....

Er, please...? wink.gif

I like how you're thinking, if a user had Ad-Watch load at windows start-up then this could be useful.

What was brought up in beta testing was the idea of closing ad-aware using the 'x' button would, like ad-watch, actually minimize to the tray. Or even just minimize '-' would minimize to tray.

This way ad-aware would not have to be 'open', as in on screen, and would not use up as much of the computer's resources, but it would still be easily accesible for frequent use. (have a look http://beta.lavasoftsupport.com/forums/ind...showtopic=1034)

We didn't really get a reply though.

That's the way I run 2008 and SE - load AdWatch on Windows Startup.

I don't use AdAware that much...once a day maybe...? I also use TrayTools 2000, which puts up to 24 user-selectable program icons into the taskbar (Favourites, My Documents, My Computer, My Network Places, Excel, Word, Outlook, IE7, WS FTP, Desktop Folders, Notepad, Paint etc). One click on them launches the relevant program, and my desktop is totally clear.

I could put AAW 2008 into TrayTools 2000 as well, but that would use up another TaskBar space - whereas with SE Plus AdWatch, there is an existing AdAware Launch button within the SE AdWatch TaskBar icon, so only one TaskBar Icon for the whole of AAW SE Plus....like AVG & ZA & WinPatrol etc. cool.gif

*Edit* Cool link to the Beta Site, BTW...now I know what you 'ole boyz n'gurlz get up to... laugh.gif

Here's another suggestion... (S'trewth, I'm full of them today...or is that full of it...? LOL)

AdWatch Icon: We have the option to have the icon "blinking", at the detection of e.g. a "cookie".

Now, I visit quite a few sites on a regular basis that try to install Tracking Cookies.
No, not THOSE sort of sites - LOL. Here's one - http://www.autosport.com/

The "Tray Icon" just keeps flashing continuously until you click on it. But I'm a mad and massive Motor Racing fan, and as a regular visitor I already know that Autosport throws cookies at me, and the continuous "blinking" is, er, blinking irritating... sad.gif

By all means have it "blinking", so that when I do meet a new and unexpected cookie, I get an alert and a warm-and-cuddly sense of security - but can we have the option for a "time-out" on the "blinking"...? Maybe user-settable, say 5 seconds to one minute in increments (e.g. 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 45, 60 seconds if necessary)...?

At the moment, the temptation to turn off the blinking "blinking" is almost irresistible... unsure.gif

Or perhaps we need the ablity to add "trusted sites". If one is a regular visitor to a specific site that uses session cookies and one is OK with that, AAW should be able ignore cookies from that site. That way when an unwanted action is attempted the "blinking" icon does indeed draw attention
