I downloaded Ad Aware 2008 tonight and removed SE. I hadn't realized SE was so outdated until I noticed the update bar was ALWAYS grayed out. Anyway - today I ran huh.gif SE; it found 15 files. Then I downloaded AAW2008, did a smart scan and it found 572 files, mostly cookies. Isn't this too many given that SE only found 15? Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do? I haven't removed these files yet.

No it is not wrong. This is absolutely correct information. When I started using the 2008 beta, I had ran a scan on 2007 first. I believe it was around 70 cookies it found. I then installed 2008. It found 256 infections (cookies). That is the difference in the programming. Even 2007 programming is obsolete now. LS rewrote 2008 programmming, it just uses the gui. people think because it looks the same that it is the same. This is a completely wrong assumption.

The spyware viruses have evolved, so the programs to catch then have to evolve. LS is dedicated to war against spyware and is why they offer a current free version, not last years old version for free like many other companies.

Glad to here the program is working good for you. Congratulations and Enjoy

Thanks, txnnok. Maybe because I left the program on so long when I went to close it (without removing those files) it wasn't responding. I finally had to close it thru task mgr.
I'm going to rescan with 2008 and see if it will continue operating and let me delete those files. I wonder if having a teenager around could have been the magnet?!?? She's no longer a teenager and no longer at home - maybe I'll be safe....
