I posted this before but my topic got closed for no reason. Looks like the Lavasoft team don't want to address the issues found in their buggy software. I might be wrong though.

Details:

Operating System:

Windows XP Professional SP3

Security Software:

Windows Defender
Kaspersky Anti-Virus 7.0.1.325

Ad-aware 2008(Free Version).

Same here, it just keeps freezing at the same point. There's really no point in having it on if it cant do the job is it? I've been so happy with it for the past few years, it's kept my PC clean. But I've got infections that I just cant get rid of now.

Hi all,

same here, there is already a number of similar threads here in the forum.
Seems this is a repeating & reproducible issue that obviously appears on multiple systems.

While I agree to "LS CalamityJane" that any PC-System & its configuration is different, I do not really understand why these folks here are forcing each user to open a different thread for the same issue ? unsure.gif

Since multiple users are reporting the same issue & symptoms I'd really rather tend to blame the product Ad-Aware 2008 than stating a possible conflict with a certain PC- or Software configuration.
In addition everyone who already bought the first final release of Ad-Aware 2007 knows that this is not the first time that Lavasoft has released a unfinished product as final release - abusing their customers as Beta-Testers !

See, it's a definite problem, but the support team is still not accepting.

Hey Sher,

yes you are right - Indeed they are not man & bold enough to officially admit it as a bug in the "Bug Update" thread pinned on top of the forum.
It's a shame ! mad.gif

I have the same problem "The scan hangs while scanning" always in the same file=
XDPFile_8.ico in C:\WINDOWS\Installer\<AC76BA86-7AD7-1033-7B44-A81200000003> , (Acrobat Reader v.8.1.2)
in two PCs,
one with AVG Anti-virus (paid) & ZoneAlarm v.7 (free), the other with Avira Antivir Premium v.8 (paid) & ZoneAlarm
Anti-spyware v.7 (paid).
Both PCs OS=Windows XP Home SP3.

I noticed also that during the scanning, scan hangs at i.e. "Total objects scanned = 105513, and then,
in scan report: "scanned files = 86060".

Ad-Aware 2008 (free)

Has anyone had success running this program??? I just installed it and seem to be having the same problem as alot of you all. It scans to a certain point and then just freezes up, it shows in the scan time that it is still running but mine has been on the same thing for the last 2 hours. I liked this program before when it was SE, but haven't been able to use this one for the first time yet. Anyone have any suggestions???? is there another program anyone can recommend that does the same thing as this one. I don't have Zone Alarm installed. The only program that I have that may conflict is Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0.1.325 trial version.

thanks,
moe
