Just wondering, having read a few threads it appears that I'm not alone in experiencing problems with both the 2007 and 2008 Adaware versions.
Are we a small number or are there many? Is it working ok for some and not others?

Hi rondetto,

from a neutral point of view I'd say the software itself would be pretty good if it would have been well tested and sold in stable status.

However from a customer point of view I can tell you that both initial final releases Ad-Aware 2007 & Ad-Aware 2008 were a piece of crappy & buggy software which a serious company wouldn't even dare to release as an Alpha or even a Beta-Version.

In fact Ad-Aware 2007 became a pretty stable & usable product over the time after releasing a number of updates & patches.
However from a customer point of view it is ridiculous to pay for a 365 days licensing period of which in fact the product has been in totally unusable state for a significant amount of the paid licensing time.

I really do not know why Lavasoft is barefaced enough to release a crappy & buggy final version of Ad-Aware again - knowing that they already did something stupid like that last time with releasing the initial final release of Ad-Aware 2007 back that time.
I really do not understand at all why Lavasoft is really accepting the risk of loosing their reputation against their customers ???

Hope this helps to get a feeling about the current situation - now get your own opinion about business practices of this company....

Best regards

Blimey buddy, you don't mince your words do you? I must admit that I have serious doubts now about using Adaware 2008. All my mates have uninstalled it and are using another well tested site.
Pity though, I've had good service from Adaware for 2 years now.

Well, on mine it gets so far, tells me that there are 17 infections, then just freezes. I am unable to remove them or carry on with the test.
I'm anxious to find out when the 2008 version has ironed out all it's problems, then I'd be happy to use it. But as it is, it's as not really of any use.

BTW, I can do any type of scan on Vista64 Ult, I have no real issues with Ad-Aware 2008 even since Beta unlike 2007 period (XP 32bit then) that are serious or were not fixed in 1st few days.

Ad-Watch 2008 is another story, its as bad as Ad-Watch 2007 was.

I think you are simply trying to do too much with Ad-Watch, keep it basic like 2006SE which was great apart from the Pop Up Blocker which I did not use.

I hope someday to be able to re-enable Ad-Watch 2008.

Me too, I don't want to desert Adaware entirely, but until these snags are ironed out it's not worth having.

Am I the only one whose computer will not accept Ad-Aware 2008? I've tried three times to download, and each time I get an "invalid" message . I would appreciate ifanyone has a solution. Thank you. Red River

Quite simply, it freezes, even after telling me i've got 17 infections. I cant remove them.
As to why you cant install 2008 version, I cant see why not, but there are obviously important issues to be resolved.

No problems downloading, installing or scanning. AA found 66 trackers on my WS machine and 10 on my notebook. All were removed.

Custom workstation:
VistaU64 SP1, detailed specs if anyone thinks it would be helpful.

HP dv9000 notebook:
VistaHP64 SP1

With over 1 million downloads of Ad-Aware 2008 last week, we are only seeing a handful of folks having issues. Yours appears to be unique for your system and not program-wide.

The scanning freezing that some are reporting IS being looked at by the Development team to determine what is causing it and find a fix. Your problem appears to be something else I think.

I've seen Ad-Aware have problems removing for example your 17 found "infections" might be some protection you have in place by another program blocking the removal. If you would like to get some help troubleshooting what the problem is with your issue, please start a new topic with specifics. If you have a scan log or screen shot you can post to show us what exactly is being found that would be useful to help get some answers. This topic here really isn't appropriate for us to troubleshoot your error and is just going to get opinions from folks.

But I can assure you that the number of people having problems are very few with this version and mostly are system specific problems.

So yes, Ad-Aware 2008 is working well for most and they won't be searching these forums for help. The number that ARE having issues need to start their own new topic and we'll be glad to take a look smile.gif

Since this topic isn't serving any useful purpose, I'll go ahead close it now. Please start a new topic if you need assistance with your particular issue.
