Hello,

after rebooting the system Ad-Watch always pops up an error message windows saying:

"Not more than one instance of this application can be running at any time"

Meanwhile I'm really getting angry with Lavasoft since I have licensed Ad-Aware for 1 year and if you take the total licensing period of 365 days and substract the number of days the crappy application was unusable due to software-bugs which should have been identified during Beta-testing I should be eligible for getting that license time reimbursed from Lavasoft ! mad.gif

OS installed: Windows XP Professional Servicepack 3 English
Other Security Software installed: Symantec Antivirus Enterprise 10.1.0.396

@ LS Digger Barnes:

Following your advice this is the e-mail I have submitted to Lavasoft Support:

Hello,

I'm really getting angry with Lavasoft releasing a buggy & poorly tested Final Release of Ad-Aware 2008 Pro which is not even worth & well tested enough for a Beta-Release !
Among Lavasoft customers it is a well known fact that the initial release of Ad-Aware 2007 has been a mess back that time and now Lavasoft is making the same mistake again with releasing a buggy & crappy piece of software !?

I have upgraded from Ad-Aware 2007 successfully yesterday.
Since then I'm being bothered with multiple bugs and issues of Ad-Aware 2008.

Bug 1:
After reboot Ad-Watch always pops up an error message saying:
"Not more than one instance of this application can be running at any time"
See Forum Thread: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=18344

Bug 2:
Cannot complete any Scan with Ad-Aware 2008 Pro.
Any Scan attempt gets stucked with an "unhandled exception error" forcing me to send an error report to Lavasoft.
See Forum Thread: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=18319

Bug 3:
Minor GUI (Skin) Bug.
Carbon Skin doesn't get applied to the Update dialog of Ad-Aware 2008 Pro.
See Forum Thread: http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/index.php?showtopic=18321

Operating System installed: Windows XP Professional Servicepack 3
Other Security Software installed: Symantec Antivirus Enterprise 10.1.0.396
Sygate Desktop Firewall Security Agent 4.1-2827C

I have licensed Ad-Aware for 1 year and if you take the total licensing period of 365 days and substract the number of days the crappy applications Ad-Aware 2008 Pro & Ad-Aware 2008 Pro were unusable due to software-bugs which should have been identified during Beta-testing I should be eligible for getting that license time reimbursed from Lavasoft !

About Bug 3:
The update manager don't use the skin file. This is because we don't the application to fail because of missing skin files

Hi LS Lennart,

thanks for that quick fix so far.
Ok, indeed it fixed at least that bug.

However with "Bug 2" the application remains totally unusable because it continues terminating with an error as reported by other users as well during any attempt of system scan !

I also do not understand why existing customers of the paid product don't get any official statement from Lavasoft at all ?
- no reply/answer from support about submitted issues
- no excuse from Lavasoft about facing paying customers with a halfdone & buggy application
- no offer from Lavasoft of reimbursing customers of paid products for lost license time with an unusable product

This is neither good business practice nor advisable way of treating customers.
From a common sense point of view Lavasoft management should take a decision on how to calm paying customers down if not wanting to fully loosing their reputation !!! mad.gif

Best Regards

Hi mx-5driver

About bug no 2: I know that the team is working on the problem then I went home yesterday. So an update will come soon, if it isn't already out? (Haven't spoken to the team yet)

And please send in crash reports. They help us locating the problem within the source code.

Hello LS Lennart,

thanks for your reply about status of "Bug 2".
Of course I was sending in the crash report.
Please could you tell me one more thing:

- Why the heck is the Scan abort error issue not officially added into the "Bug Update" which is pinned on top of the Forum ?
- I'm a customer of the paid Pro-Produkt, so why do I not get any response at all from Lavasoft-Support after reporting the issue to Lavasoft-Support ?

Hello,

one one hand I'm impressed since the main issues have been addressed pretty fast with the recent updates - Thanks for fixing.
However I still stick to my opinion that these kind of issues should have been identified & solved before releasing Ad-Aware 2008 to paying customers.

The following two questions are still not answered:

- Why the heck is the Scan abort error issue not officially added into the "Bug Update" which is pinned on top of the Forum ?
- I'm a customer of the paid Pro-Produkt, so why do I not get any response at all from Lavasoft-Support after reporting the issue to Lavasoft-Support ?
