I tried to run Ad Aware 2007 today and it said it needed to upgrade a lost of components but then hanged during the upgrade. I rebooted and went to the Lavasoft site where I downloaded Ad Aware 2008. However when I try to install this it says that a previosu version is detected and needs to be uninstalled - then the unistall hits an error and says it can't continue. I've tried uninstallign via Add/Remove Programs and that hits the same fault.

Any ideas? I'm trapped as I can't upgrade or uninstall and the program doesn't work either!

firstly ...
open your task-manager ( right-click task-bar ).
Locate all AAW 2007 activities and end them.
Try a new uninstall.
Let us know how it works.
