Hi,

this is just a minor bug which doesn't have any impact on the applications usability.
However it should be dealt with and this kind of obvious bug should have been idenified during Beta-testing.

If you select a different Skin - e.g. Carbon the Skin doesn't get applied to the Web-Update Window dialog.

Do you mean the stand alone Update Manager? If you do, then this was brought up, but lavasoft (LS Tobias) said

This is on the to do list. It will get a more skin neutral look and feel.
and then I enquired as to why we can't have the same skin and the response was

anything is possible, it just would take a bit too much time - we feel that the resources are needed elsewhere at the moment.

Yes indeed it is a minor bug that doesn't really affect usability of the application.
I just mentioned it as it is an obvious one - worth to mention it and I do not understand why this hasn't been dealt with before releasing the final.
Indeed it is not an important one and there are currently much more important issues that have to be dealt with.

However my main concern is that Lavasoft is obviously not carefully testing before releasing a final product to paying customers.
The current version of Lavasofts Ad-Aware 2008 as it is at current stage of development is just a piece of crap !
It may sound a bit hard, but I have paid for a product which is not even capable to complete any Spyware Scan for which the product is designed for.
As a result it is completely unusable in its current state and I really regret that I have paid a 365 days license of which a significant amount of time the product has been already unusable.

In addition I also have sent a detailed report of the issues & complains I'm having with the software to Lavasoft-Support and I did not get any reply yet.
Not even a short autoreply stating that my e-mail has been received.

Best Regards

This is true but I think for the moment we will have to settle with the 'neutral look' which hopefully will come out soon. I have been reading into your other posts as well and can see that you are frustrated. I know that the team will try and sort every issue that you have and hopefully you may be able to recouperate some of the lost time on your license.

The beta did go through some quite rigorous testing, but obviously we could have done with your computer in the testing! I know that's no concellation, but like I said everyone will keep trying...

Not a bug. This is by design and was answered by Lennart from the Lavasoft Development Team here:

The update manager don't use the skin file. This is because we don't the application to fail because of missing skin files

Closing this thread now and moving to the Archives (read only)

Thanks for posting this, as we now know why the update manager won't have a skin smile.gif
