Hey all!
I just registered here and while reading, I didn't notice anyone with the same problem I am experiencing.

I have used "ADAWARE SE" by Lavasoft for quite a while now & LOVE IT!
While I recently had to re~install windows to my machine, (2 days ago) coarse I re~downloaded it...
(VERSION: 7.0.2.7.)

This morning I got home, I had a box on my screen talking about...
"aawservice.exe has unfortunately experienced an unhandled exception and was forced to close.
Please submit this error and we will endeavor to solve the problem as soon as possible."
Note: No other information than that in this text box will be sent to us.
(I sent the crash report & got a message saying...
"Thanks a lot for submitting the crash report"...or something along those lines.)



I now have, in my task bar here at the bottom of my screen, the Adaware SE round green thingie that is spinning. When I hover my mouse over it, it reads..."SCHEDULED SCAN IN PROGRESS". so when I click on it & try to "ABORT SCAN"...she won't abort?!?

I am not so good with this computer stuff...I will attempt to attach a copy (attachment), so it won't take up so much space in here, of the whole error message.

Do I "Uninstall" & "Re~Install" this version? What do I do? It is slowing my system in a major way.
Can someone please help me out here? Is there like a "FIX" or tool to fix this?

Is SE still installed ??
Or the other way... Have YOU uninstalled the SE before downloading 2007 ?.

HI SWEETIE!
I DIDN'T, PER SE, UNINSTALL THE SE, BEFORE INSTALLING THE 2007...MY COMPUTER WAS RESET TO FACTORY SETTINGS...WHICH WAS WHY I HAD TO INSTALL IT.
I HAVE SINCE TRIED TO UNINSTALL IT, (SORRIE, I WAS NOT SURE WHEN I WOULD GET A REPLY & IT IS REALLY SLOWING MY SYSTEM DOWN BIG TIME).
NOT ONLY WILL IT NOT UNINSTALL, BUT THE GREEN BALL THINGIE IS STILL SPINNING IN MY TASKBAR(SCHEDULED SCAN IN PROGRESS) AND I CANNOT OPEN IT (ADAWARE 2007) FROM MY DESKTOP.
I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO? I AM SO FLUSTERED.
I WILL BE STEPPING OUT FOR A LIL BIT FOR MY BABY MAN BUT SHOULD RETURN IN ABOUT AN HOUR OR SO.

>> uninstall AAW 2007
>> start a windows search for all AAW 2007 traces and delete them manually
>> reboot
>> download and install 'Windows Install Clean Up' ( WICU / by MS )
>> run WICU and delete all Ad-Aware SE references
>> start/run > type 'cleanmgr' > hit enter > drive 'C' ok > checkmark Temp.files/Temp.Internet files/Recycle Bin > run
>> reboot
>> start a new windows search for all SE leavings and delete them manually
>> reboot.
Now test your system if it is faster now and let me know.
Pls don't install AAW2007 till we finished.
