I have repeatedly tried to check for and download updates in the usual way but when I'm only 5% into the process I always get an error message. What should I do? It's 144 daus now since I last updated. I urgently need to run a scan using the most recent updates and I can't do it. Could Lavasoft be blocking me in some way?

Try downloading xp3 manually in that way you will be right up to date
