I removed Windows SE Personal and have successfully installed Ad-Aware 2007 on my Windows XP 2000 computer. Then I removed SE Personal from my second computer which is older, a Windows 98 version, and attempted to install Ad-Aware 2007, but it failed to install successfully. Before I get into all the steps I could take that I have read about in the six pages in the forum, I am wondering if perhaps Ad-Aware 2007 simply will not work on Windows 98? If that's the case, then I won't have to go through all the rest to determine what the problem is. If it won't, then it would be nice to get SE Personal back (which, in any event, I found much clearer than Ad-Aware 2007) even though I could no longer get definitions on it. At least it continued to scan. I removed SE Personal through the add/remove programs on the Control Panel.

Also, on my Ad-Aware 2007 I, like another whose message I read, get numerous cookies to ignore (or remove) but have had no more notification of any serious items such as I used to get on SE Personal.

Back to my attempt to install Ad-Aware 2007 on my Windows 98, I get on my screen (when clicking on AROTrial for installation) a message saying that I cannot delete it because it is being used by Windows. That aside, the error message it gives me is: Runtime error [at 0-1:0]: Cannot import dll:C:\Windows\temp\is-6TMCC.tmp\CheckFor\/4.dll. Since it said that, I tried to delete it. Anyone have any thoughts on this message or on whether Ad-Aware 2007 is compatible with Windows 98?

Hi Ludwig,

AAW 2007 requires Win 2000 or later, which is why it won't install on your Win 98 machine.

Spike

Hi Ludwig, Ad-Aware doesnt support windows 98/ME because they are too old. I have some advise for your windows 98 machine:

1. Upgrade to windows 2000/XP/VISTA- Only if the computer can handle it
2. Get another software
3. Do without- (Last resort)

I hope you find my post helpful
