Mornin', All,
1. Few days ago when checking for updates said New Prog. file - 7.027 - along with new defs file. OK, and then it hung and never DL'd. Finally was able to get the new defs files - now have no. 63. But the prog. update is never offered again and I still show 7.026. Is there really a 7.027 ?
2. In Settings - Log Files I cannot change the "Limit Log Files to" number. It is set at 1 and cannot be raised. Is that sufficient ?
Thanks much for any help and advice..

Sorry, using AdAware 2007 Free..

Hi again bobnrobin,

Firstly, if you check the Software Updates thread, you will see that it says:

QUOTE
The software version number remains at 7.0.2.6 as this update does not contain any major feature additions.

However, contained in the software package was an update to the AAW Service and to part of the Update Manager itself, both of which are now v.7.0.2.7. Go to the (default) folder C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\ and check the properties of aawservice.exe, upmanager.dll and update.dll - they should show 7.0.2.7.

As to your second question, users of AAW 2007 Free are not able to increase the number of log files at this time (licensed users can only store up to the last 10 logs).

I suggested to the Devs some time ago, that in the event of an infection, any user would most likely need access to more than one log, which they agreed would be useful. It is on the "to do" list but when it will be done, I couldn't say (mind you, with beta-testing of AAW 2008 about to start, it may be included in that).

Regards,

Spike

Hi, spike,
Can't believe did it again - posted before checking the program files. Ya' know, read that post, but it seemed to be in conjunction to an earlier defs file that already had so it didn't really "register", because when clicked on OK for the prog. update, nothing but nothing happened. Anyway, sure enuf, all is as it should be in the AAW prog. files. Guess it DID DL after all.

As for #2, that's just strange... just discovered it when checking all the settings yesterday (which by the way, had all changed from the way I'd set them right after DL'ing 007 and setting it up and it could be changed at that time!) Ah well, guess every new defs and prog update does its own thing... For sure things have changed since first DL of AAW sometime in 02 or 03...
Thanks much, appreciate your patience !

Sure have - when I first purchased AAW Plus in 2001, the real-time Ad-Watch app was a separately downloadable executable... install/uninstall were separate processes for Ad-Aware and Ad-Watch.

Software Updates meant downloading/installing new program versions every 12 to 18 months, with individualized download links being sent to each licensed user - meant that you had to make sure that LS had the most up-to-date email address, or you missed out on the download link wink.gif

Thats one of the improvements that I like about AAW 2007 - the availability of incremental updates.

Yup, even the Forums! Was quite surprised to discover back in Oct. 06 that my "name" and password wouldn't log me in and I had to re-up !! I knew I had joined somewhere between 02-04,,,, Visit the Forum frequently to see what's happenin', but don't generally log in unless I have questions. Been many changes in the various forums visited in the last 6+ years - MS, Dell, Spybot, AAW, etc., etc... Pretty much to the good, I think. Certainly appreciate those, like you, who come to help we who have relapses in brain function now and again....
Thanks.
