I installed the new Ad-Aware 2007 edition a month ago. Just last week, as i clicked on definition updates, i was also prompted to accept new software updates to the update manager. I did and subsequently my nightmare began.

My computer started to run at ultra slow speed, my word processing program (MS word) will not work openly, internet browsing ability is also very slow. I suspect it must be the new software updates i downloaded from Lavasoft.

Attempted numerous times to unistall Ad-Aware but failed. I got this error message:

"Error 1921. Service"Ad-Aware 2007 Service'(aawservice) could not be stopped. Verify that you have sufficient priviledges to stop system devices."

FYI: I have always dis-armed my system restore property in my C-drive for fear of any possible virus infection, which the system restore may inadvertly restore any deleted virus again. Hence, there is no way, i can activate system restore function to say undo the new software updates which i downloaded.

Secondly, I am already in my administrator profile. So im puzzled, how much more should i do to further verify i have sufficient system privileges.

Lastly, i tried, going to "run", typed "services.msc", located the Ad-Aware 2007 entry, but the stop button is disabled, i.e. i cant stop the service.

Had the same problem. The reason your computer is running so slow is because the automatic update function is not working. If you open Task Master and open the header "process" you will see that this porocess is using 95-100% of your CPU. To fix this problem you have to uninstall the program and reinstall it. I can e-mail you specific instructions via my scanner but I need your e-mail to do so. Just going to control panel the add/remove is not sufficient in this case.
