Full Version: Since I upgraded from SE I never detect any objects?

I upgraded recently to 2007 personal from SE personal and since that time when I run a full scan using default settings and TAI level 1 I never detect any objects. Previously with SE I always detected something either critical or not and removed them.

Am I missing something??

Thank you in advance for your response.

Hi John,

With AAW SE, did you ever detect anything other than cookies or MRUs?

I only did once (in nearly 8 years), after my nephew had managed to get on my system without my knowledge ( mad.gif ) and AAW cleaned a mid-level threat for me.

I have been using AAW 2007 Plus since its release and have only ever had a very occasional tracking cookie - since I am (now) the only person with access to this PC, I don't bother to scan for MRUs, as already I know which apps I have recently used.

I also use a "layered approach" to security, with regular scans from other security software (turning off the real-time component of Ad-Aware 2007 Plus when I do so).

Regards,

Spike

I used to get both criticle and negligable objects when I did a scan with with the old one
I always backed up the criticle objects

Perhaps I could have been a little clearer - in AAW SE, all items detected were reported a Critical no matter what the actual threat level was.

In AAW 2007, the results have now been split between "Privacy Objects" (cookies, mrus) and "Critical Objects" (actual malware/spyware/trojans etc).

Phantom, if you regularly got what are now considered to be critical detections (ie: real security threats) then perhaps you were regularly going to unsafe sites...? Or opening junk email? Or file-sharing? No personal criticism intended - a lot of people do those things (when I was younger, I did some pretty stupid things myself - cracks/warez etc).

Personally, I'd review everywhere I had been if I had genuine malware detected on my system nowadays, even if AAW had been able to quarantine and remove it.
