Is this computer infected? That error message couold be due to a type of malware that blocks Ad-Aware from running. Just to be sure could you please follow this instruction so we can do a quick check of your system? This is a free tool that will generate a diagnostic log for me to review for you.

Doubleclick the HJTInstall.exe to start it.
By default it will install HijackThis in the Program Files\Trendmicro folder and create a desktop shortcut.
HijackThis will open after install. Press the Scan button below.
This will start the scan and open a log.
