Upgraded from XP Pro to Vista business X64 and wasn't expecting any issues since the lavasoft website states that File Shredder is Vista compatible. Anyhows, 2 issues I have found so far:

1. Context menu is missing under Vista - under XP there was a right click context menu option to shred the selected file(s) which doesn't appear under Vista;
2. No matter what algorithm is selected, immediately after selecting some files and shredding them using the "Shred Files and Folders" option, File Shredder displays an error stating "Could not locate necessary dll 'SITPVG.dll'" which apears in the message box with the title "LSFileShredder". After okaying that message, the Operation Successful box is displayed and it does appear to have deleted the files but, who knows if they were just deleted or properly shredded!

I also get the DLL error as the 'SITPVG.DLL' file has not been installed in 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Lavasoft\Dlls', I have tried three times to get a response from support about this and been ignored each time, does anyone have a copy of this DLL, otherwise it looks like I will have to uninstall the software and buy something new?

On another note is this program the same as the Blancco file shredder as it seems very similar, except the Blancco software works?

For the benefit of anyone else who reads this, I posted a message on the support center and got a curt 1 line reply from Lavasoft. Despite the website saying it is compatible with Vista, File Shredder is not compatible with Vista X64 sad.gif

It does not work with the 32 bit version either as that's what I use.

to the best of anyone's knowledge has this issue been solved. I just downloaded fileshredder and continue to have the issues outlined in this thread. I don't see anymore attention to it anywhere. I do have an open ticket into LavaSoft though

LS Support suggested reinstalling - had already done this - this hasn't worked. A copy of SITPVG.dll would help. If I get anything useful back from support I'll post it.

This seems to be a recurring problem. I'll see if I can find out any definitive answers on this issue from the Support Team.

Hi,

The software is vista compatible and will run on both 32bit and 64bit systems.
If reinstalling the software does not replace the missing dll file,
Please contact us directly through the support center http://www.lavasoft.com/support/supportcenter/ , where we can assist you further to resolve this issue.
(The default file location is in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Lavasoft\Dlls folder.)

Best Regards
Lavasoft Support.

I have this same problem SITPVG.dll is missing. I have the box/store version, I've tried reinstalling that doesn't help. I've also tried to register with the support center to ask advice, but the page for Lavasoft File Shredder won't open or let me register? sad.gif
