The other day, I got onto a particular web that should have been safe. I was there for around 10 seconds when my AVG detected a problem. I was waiting for the popup to ask me what I wanted to as it would normally do if something is detected. Instead, within seconds, my AVG icon disappears on my taskbar and my system started a restart cycle that I could not stop. AVG was gone completely. After 7 times of the machine restarting, I finally just pulled the power cord to decide what to do. I figured a recovery was all I could as I could not reinstall the AVG fast enough to hopefully catch whatever hit me. It happened so fast, that I could not tell what it was that took over.

Can you give me an idea what would be strong enough to knock out or disable the AVG antivirus?? I keep up with updates each a.m.

I did reinstall the AVG after recovering, but then it told me I had an outdated program. I then went to the web site to download what I found. I had no idea my 2007 was out of date; if it actually was. I have been using AVG for four years + without a problem. I always download new versions when it is said there is a new one available.
