first of all, i am very disapointed with this new version of free ad-aware. it isn't as simple as the free version of ad-aware personal se. i can't get it to run through all of the way, it seems to stop scanning and says...scanning folder conditional. the longest it has ran is for 13 hours and it stops, so i haven't been able to finish and clean up with all of the problems that are showing. help please. i love ad-aware but right now, not so much

You express my same sentiments.
I used to enjoy the early versions of AdAware but this version...I don't know.
I was having a problem on one of my computers.
It would never complete any scan.
I think I found a solution to my problem.
I've uploaded a file which contains a procedure. If you're interested.
Now, here's one thing, I kinda recalled that when I first loaded it
on the computer, it did run a scan.
Sometime after the first load, it stopped working.
What I found out is that there is a Ad-Aware 2007.exe.bak file in the
same directory as the Ad-Aware 2007.exe file.
I saw that the bak file was an earlier date as the second.
When I performed a File Compare (FC) on the two files, they came up
with differences. I decided to put the plain EXE file on the side &
make the .EXE.BAK file the worker.
This seems to work.

Hi sandy,

Please open AAW 2007 and select the "Settings" tab. on the "Scanning" tab, under "Scanning Options", select the "Skip files large..." and type in 30000. Then try scanning again.

AAW can sometimes get hung up on large, compressed or possibly corrupted files.

Post back with how you get on.

Regards,

Spike
