similar to what others who have posted are experiencing, Ad-aware detects this malware but can't remove it. This is the only one that Ad-aware detects. I have McAfee and it detects a trojan 'Vundo' and reports that the 'Delete failed (Clean failed because the file isn't cleanable)'. I appreciate any and all help I can get.

Here is my Ad-Aware log followed by my hiJack this log:

You are most welcome.

You may want to print out these instructions for reference

1. We need to temporarily disable the Real-time Protection on Windows Defender as it may interfere with the HijackThis fixes we make.
  • Open Windows Defender
  • Click Tools => Options
  • Scroll down and uncheck Use real-time protection (recommended).
  • Click Save
  • Close Windows Defender
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

2. Copy and paste the following into NotePad (Not Wordpad)
    sc stop ProtectsStore
    sc delete ProtectsStore
Click File ->>Save as ->>type in cmd.bat
    Under "Save as type" Select "all files" ->>Save it to your Desktop
    Close Notepad
    The cmd.bat file should now appear on your Desktop (if it saved properly it should appear as a blue box with a gear in the middle of it)
    Double Click that file (It will appear that nothing has happened, but that's o.k.)
3. Reset the desktop components
    Click Start ->> Control Panel ->> Display.
    Another window will open
    Under the Desktop tab Select Customize Desktop
    Another window will open
    Under the Web tab delete everything in the Web pages box except "My current Home Page"
    Then Select O.k.->> Then Apply ->> Then O.K.
4. Rerun Hijackthis (scan only) and place checks beside the following entries
    O2 - BHO: {1dc748f1-b33d-49f9-be04-fb82daab9c7a} - {a7c9baad-28bf-40eb-9f94-d33b1f847cd1} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\cvfandni.dll (file missing)

    O20 - Winlogon Notify: efcdaaw - efcdaaw.dll (file missing)
Close all other open windows except Hijackthis and Select "Fix checked"

Close Hijackthis ->> Reboot your PC ->> Rerun Hijackthis and post a fresh Hijackthis log

Here you go:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrenTVersion\Explorer\driveicons]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrenTVersion\Explorer\driveicons\c]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrenTVersion\Explorer\driveicons\c\DefaultIcon]
@="%SystemRoot%\\system32\\shell32.dll,131"

Open Notepad (Not Wordpad)
Select Edit and uncheck Wordwrap
Copy and paste the following into Notepad
(Making sure there is no space between the top of the window and the first line)

CODE
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrenTVersion\Explorer\driveicons\c\DefaultIcon]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrenTVersion\Explorer\driveicons\c]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrenTVersion\Explorer\driveicons]

After you copy and paste it your cursor should be at the end of the first line
Hit Enter so your cursor is under the last line
    Click File->>Save as->>type in fix.reg->>
    Under "Save as type" Select "All Files"->> save it to your Desktop
    Close Notepad
The fix.reg file should now appear on your Desktop (If it saved properly it will look like a stack of small blue blocks)

Rt Click and Select merge->>If prompted to Merge this Select Yes (it will appear that nothing has happened but that's o.k.)

Reboot your PC->> Let me know if that resolves your problem.
