Hello All,
First post here.
Having problems with AdAware2007 (many already listed in this forum). Suspect an invalid file download.
There are utilities to verify the download is complete.
Is there a valid MD5 HASH string for the latest download file of AdAware2007Free edition?
Please advise.
Gee, look at this, I'm talking to myself!
Well, it seems there is a valid MD5 HASH String for the current
FREE VERSION file on CNET.com / downloads
File Name: AAW2007.exe
File Size: 20,864KB
File version ID is: 7.0.2.6
MD5 HASH String for this
specific file is: 03318d13ebd06f1c41dd2ffd39fec4a8
I pulled the file down, verified the HASH and ran the update. Ran flawlessly.
I just have one problem now, ....AdAware2007 runs a scan at startup that chews up 75Mb of RAM while it runs...slows the machine down, places an icon on the task tray - you can right click and abort, but nothing else.
Will search the forum, if nothing surfaces on forced scan at startup I will post a new question....
If you are going to do a checksum (old school CRC checksum, present day MD5 HASH string) you will need a utility to do so.
Another software provider suggests (but does not support) the use of a piece of shareware called DigestIT.exe as a means to check the HASH string.
The .exe is an add-on utility, meaning it does not install in Windows as an application but runs from C:\ as an add-on and allows any file with a valid string to be verified. But, you have to know the valid string for each file being verified before you
can verify.
A copy of this particular shareware can be obtained from;
