Ad-Aware 2007 free on Windows XP SP2

After accepting an invitation to download a software update, I think a new license module, all went well until I clicked OK to "update complete"; then after a pause came a message which said:

"An error has occurred in Ad-Aware 2007!

Component:
TLVFocusCtrl

Message:
Access violation at address 00558477 in module 'Ad-Aware2007.exe'. Read of address 00000004"

The message asked me to report this to https://secure.lavasoft.com/support/supportcenter/, but that site won't let me in, saying it doesn't recognize my email address. That's probably because I have the free version and so am not entitled to support, but it seems odd to ask for error reports to an address that won't let you deliver them.

Anyway, I am reporting it here, and you can pass it on, with the suggestion that if they want error reports from users of the Free version they should provide somewhere to send them to.

John Deas

I had the same problem, but my message said:
Access violation at address 00594B53 in module 'Ad-Aware2007.exe'. Read of address 00000004

I had just downloaded a new Update Module. The program terminated, and I restarted my computer which fixed the problem.

Hmmmm, ok. Glad to hear that worked. We are still getting some reports with updates crashing the services since that update so please let us know if you should happen to see that again.
