Being new to this forum (1/2 hour!) my question is : I'm now running Ad-Aware SE free version for a few years now, do I uninstall what I have now and do a "new version" install to my computer? Thanks for any help in advance.

Ad-Aware SE is the only version I could ever run and complete with desired results. I wiped mine today so I'm curious to see what your answer is. Seems "freeware" isn't what isn't used to be. ZoneAlarm free has more issues than ever, I suspect Vista to be a culprit?

If it comes down to money I'll go back to Norton for my needs and I hate to think it's come to that but all the freeware providers are offering full security for a fee now and it appears to supercede the initial intent. (?)

I was one of the first I know to go XP, and what grief it caused. Norton was the "big guy" and even they couldn't keep up with the attacks on Microsoft products. They missed out like babies with the Blaster worm attack. I paid for their crap for 2 more years only to be let down repeatedly. My initial versions of Spybot S&D, Ad-Aware SE, and AVG Free proved to be my best years of internet protection ever. The latest SS&D is still good but not as thorough as Ad-Aware SE. The latest AVG and Ad-Aware seem to be geared towards convincing the consumer to purchase higher-end versions. (?)

Just my thoughts. I've had horrible results with 07 and my latest install as of a few hours ago on a 100% clean install reinerate that opinion. There are worse freebies out there but a freebie that fails to work is useless just the same whether or not it dumps crap you're trying to avoid. I've not had problems with AAW07 dumping junk but failing to work seems to be a bug that should be addressed for the masses.

After several attempts at several installs, I've yet to get Ad-Aware 07 to comlplete more than one deletion after a full system scan. Mine showed 52 problems tonite, nothing but simple cookies from cnet, microsoft update and grisoft...Cleared 2 or 3 in one shot and POOF, no more Ad-Aware....
