Hey there,
First let me say thank you to the crew at Lavasoft for putting together a great product. I have been using the free edition of AdAware for the past 2-3 years (in conjunction with other software) to maintain mine and my family/friends systems. With that being said, you might realize that I am the family geek. Yes, almost every family has one. As a result I spend time fixing/repairing/cursing at said people their computers (no!! don't click that link...sigh....). If you're reading this I'm sure you can sympathize.

So as a result I have, over the years, built up an arsenal of programs to combat this redundant mess of holiday & family visit interruptions. I currently employ software such as UBCD, UBCD4Win, and portable applications from portableapps.com. I am trying to figure out if there is anyway I can install AdAware 2007 onto my portableapps.exe extension without having "all" the .exes from the AdAware install show up (I just want to display the AdAware 2007 launcher) and without having the adaware service initialize since I'm using a thumb drive/flash drive.

I realize that this might not be the proper place to have a discussion regarding this but I thought that the AdAware programmers might view this thread and recommend some solutions for creating a portable version of this great program.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
John T.

Hi rastaman,

As far as I am aware (like you I am a longtime AAW user), there isn't a way to run AAW2007 without the service, because it has (deliberately) been written as a service-based product.

Please see this pinned-post about the need for the service: Regarding The Service

The Devs do read this section of the forum, although they usually don't have time to make individual responses. Perhaps someone else may be knowledgeable enough to post a workaround for you.

Regards,

Spike
