I am going back to my old retail Ad-Aware Se. I am not going to buy the new 2007 after trying out the free version and checking the forum. What you fail to realize is that EVERY Tom, Jane, & Harry program wants to RUN something in the background. If I let that happen, my computer would be running hundreds of background taskes! Your 2007 version is now just another one of those that I will no longer purchase. You think that because yours only uses 'X' resources, that that is not so bad for end users. If you were the ONLY ONE, that would be logical. As it stands, you have made a very bad decision program wise. Sorry. If support stops for the old SE version, then I will just have to go shopping for something that does NOT want to run ANOTHER service in the background. I have ENOUGH of those already that are absolutely needed to run my computer system & Anti-Virus, etc. I do NOT need another, completely UN-Needed one added to the already huge list!!! I always do custom installs of software when available. This has stopped all kinds of stuff from running at startup, in the background, etc. The software world does NOT revolve around LavaSoft!!! If it did, then running just 'one more little service' in the background would be fine. However, that is NOT the world that actually exists in reality. If I had let Lavasoft, and all the other programs that wanted to, run at startup, run in the background, etc., my computer would be frozen!!!
Your programmers need to RETHINK this as part of the real world, NOT just a Lavasoft world!!!
