I have been trying to remove a paid copy of Lavasoft Personal Firewall for some time, but it does not recognize the password I originally set, or 2 subsequent passwords sent by lavasoft. I can't disable the firewall or make any changes. I have requested help, but received intelligible responses. I just want to completely remove the product! The subscription will expire in a week or so if that will make any difference.

I'm sorry to see you haven't gotten a response. Not many folks using the Lavasoft Firewall use these forums, especially when you have the Support Center available:

Check the FAQ pages for these common issues first:

How do I uninstall Lavasoft Personal Firewall?

To uninstall Lavasoft Personal Firewall, follow the steps below:

* Disable the firewall. To do this, right-click on the system tray icon and select "Exit."
* Click on "Start," select "Control Panel," then select "Add/Remove Programs."
* Select Lavasoft Personal Firewall and click "Remove."

I have password-protected my Lavasoft Personal Firewall, but I forgot my password. What should I do?

You can choose between either of these options:

* Reinstall the firewall.
* Delete the configuration file for the firewall, "configuration.cfg" (by default, this is located in the Lavasoft Personal Firewall installation folder), and create a new configuration file.

If still no joy, contact the Support Team via the Support Center to file a request for help:

Hello there,

In the Lavasoft file installed on my hard disk I can see following files : configuration1.cfg, config.src , configuration1.cfg.bak , configuration1.conf , configuration1.conf.bak but not the one called " configuration.cfg " . Is the file configuration1.cfg the one that I'm supposed to delete ?
Now once it will be deleted coul you please let me know how to recreate the new one ? I can create a folder but creating a .cfg file how do you proceed to do this ?

Now supposing that I've created the new configuration.cfg file, what am I supposed to do afterward ... ? Close the Windows Explorer and just access to the options of the Firewall and it will works ? Should I have to delete completely the configuration.cfg file from the bin and restart my computer ? ...

In the Faq on Lavasoft web site ( http://www.lavasoft.com/support/faq_firewall.php#9 ) it says that in case you have lost the password, you just have to re-install the program. Unfortunately this doesn't work at all, the program refuses to re-install if the Lavasoft Firewall protection is not disabled and to disable it, you need the password ...

I hope that you can help about this.
