I have been using OpenDNS for quite sometime. A while back I could not get Adaware to update. I am not sure if this was part of the larger melt down Lavasoft was having with Adaware. I did find a couple of possible solutions. Please click on the links provided and offer your feedback.

My second question is how can I force Adaware to check for a new definition file on System (XP Pro) startup, NOT Adaware start up?

Thanks for your post - sorry it took a while to get to you as we have been quite busy in here as you can see.
First of all, the DNS problem was resolved with the new version of Ad-Aware 2007 released last June. Are you still using SE? If so, you need to upgrade your program to the new version. See here

Ad-Aware SE expired on December 31, 2007 FYI and it will no longer update on that version.
