My adware scan keeps telling me that I have 3 virtumonde on my computer, 2 in the registry keys and 1 in the registry value. I don't know how to get them off. I downloaded the HijackThis software and I have saved my first (and only) log file as recommended. I don't really know where to go from there. If anyone could offer some help, I'd sure appreciate it. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
• Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task.
• You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK
• When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
• Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
• You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
• Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
• When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK.
• Turn your computer back on.
• Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt here

• Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )
  It should have next icon next to it:
  Select it and click Remove.
• Then Download and install the newest version from here:

There were a few things I couldn't find.

#1- I couldn't find anything that said "Java" or had a Java icon beside it, so I didn't download anything from that websit.
#2- My HijackThis scan didn't show the following:

1. Please download LSPFix from here.
2. Run the LSPFix.exe that you have just finished downloading.
3. Check the "I know what I'm doing" box.
4. In the Keep box you should see one or more instances of ctxnsp.dll.
5. Select every instance of ctxnsp.dll and move each one to the Remove box by clicking the ">>" button.
6. When you are done click "Finish>>".

After that, post a new hijackthis log here.

Ok, I had a little bit of a problem when I followed your last intructions. I did everything you said, except those instances of ctxnsp.dll where already in the remove box, so I just clicked finished. When I was done I ran HijackThis and saved a log. When I tried to get back on the internet, I couldn't. It kept telling me that it couldn't find the server and/or the search page. I had to restore my computer back to Monday just to get everything back to the way it was. Here is the hijackthis log that I saved, but as of right now, everything I did was set back.

Below I have included a number of recommendations for how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously; these few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems. As happy as we at Lavasoftsupport are to help you, for your sake we would rather not have repeat customers.

Anti-Virus programs take up an enormous amount of your computer's resources when they are actively scanning your computer. Having two anti-virus programs running at the same time can cause your computer to run very slow, become unstable and even, in rare cases, crash.

If you choose to install more than one Anti-Virus program on your computer, then only one of them should be active in memory at a time.

There are basically two types of these programs:
On-Access and On-Demand

On-Access Scanners
As the name implies, are scanners that run in the background all the time the PC is turned on and running. The main function of an On-Access scanner is to monitor activity on your machine.

On-Demand Scanners
As the name implies, are scanners that only run when you ask them to.
Such as:
Online Scans and scanners that run on your machine but are not actively scanning your machine.

1) Please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly. I cannot stress enough how important this is.

2) In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

Ad-Aware SE
A tutorial on using Ad-Aware to remove spyware from your computer may be found here.

Spybot-Search & Destroy
A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here. Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features.

SpywareBlaster
A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here.

SpywareGuard
A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found here.

Make sure to keep these programs up-to-date and to run them regularly, as this can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.

3) Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. 4) Also make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.
