Hi,

Within the past 2 days I have been bombarded with popup ads from internet speed monitor. I'm not sure where it came from because I didn’t download it. I have uninstalled it from Add/Remove programs and I've run Ad-Aware and my anti virus but I'm still getting these dreaded popup ads. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Save this as CFScript.txt, in the same location as ComboFix.exe

Refering to the picture above, drag CFScript into ComboFix.exe

When finished, it will produce a log for you at "C:\ComboFix.txt"

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall

Then come back here with both the HijackThis log and ComboFix.txt

Hi.nomad

First go to Start >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs and remove/uninstall all older Vers of Java.

Please download the OTMoveIt by OldTimer.

[*]Save it to your desktop.
[*]Please double-click OTMoveIt.exe to run it.
[*]Copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

C:\Program Files\QdrModule

[*]Return to OTMoveIt, right click on the "Paste List of Files/Folders to be moved" window and choose Paste.
[*]Click the red Moveit! button.
[*]Close OTMoveIt

If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes.

Please "Copy" the results from the "Results" window (to the right) and then "Paste" them into your next reply on the forum.

I removed all of the old java versions.

The results from OTMoveIt.exe were.

File/Folder C:\Program Files\QdrModule not found.

Created on 11/28/2007 03:37:43

I created the fix.reg and added it to the registry.

I scanned with HiJackThis and the entry was not listed for me to select and fix. I rebooted and scanned with HiJackThis and this is the log file for it.

Hey HJThis,

My PC seems to be running normal again, I haven’t had a pop up since I added the script into combofix like you said. I have shut down my PC but I haven’t seen a popup in about 5 or 6 hours of it being on. The popup ads were coming every 5 to 10 minutes before. I'll continue to keep an eye on it to make sure they don’t come back. I thank you so much for helping with this, you are the greatest!

Thanks!

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

Next, let's clean your restore points and set a new one

Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)

1. Turn off System Restore.
* On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
* Click Properties.
* Click the System Restore tab.
* CHECK Turn off System Restore.
* Click Apply, and then click OK.
2. Restart your computer.

3. Turn ON System Restore.
* On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
* Click Properties.
* Click the System Restore tab.
* UN-Check Turn off System Restore.
* Click Apply, and then click OK.

System Restore will now be active again.

Then create a new restore point once you have System Restore back on.
To create a new System Restore Point, click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore.
When the System Restore Utility opens, click "Create a Restore Point" then click Next.
Enter a name for this Restore Point, and click Create.

Please take these following steps to help prevent reinfection:
