Hi All,

I can not solve this problem. Every ten seconds or so my cursor turns into and hourglass and these extra buttons shop in in my window. I have been having this problem for a long time and I do not how to make it stop. It stalls my typing or anything else I am doing and prevents me from using word smoothly. It takes forever to get something done because this keeps blinking and freezing whatever I am doing for a second or two. HELP!!!

It looks as though a toolbar is trying to load, which might also explain why the hourglass shows up (says it's 'working'). I would first try the following.

Click View>Toolbars>Customize. Uncheck all that you can (remember which ones are checked). Close and open a new document to see if the behavior persists.

Often times quirks such as this can be repaired by removing the template file. Doing so may also require you to reset your options when you again use Word. To remove the template file, make sure Word is closed and do a search for a file named normal.dot (usually located in C:\Documents and Settings\yourusername\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates ) then delete it. It will be recreated the next time you open Word. In case you're not comfortable deleting it just yet, you can also just move the file to another location for testing purposes.

I have unchecked all tool bars and deleted normal.dot [several times] but the issue persists. the "toolbar" that keeps popping up is an are active buttons already present. They are usually located on the bottom right below [the select browser object and double up and down arrows] and below left [which are the page view options].

nothing I have done has stopped this behavior and it is very intrusive while trying to do any work. If you have any other ides please let me know as I would really like to beat this.

Thanks

Hi

Could try a detect and repair in Microsoft Word.

To run the Detect and Repair feature click the Help menu in Word and select Detect and Repair.

Try it first without discard custom settings checked, if this does not fix the problem try Detect and Repair with discard custom settings box checked.
