Do you have a link to the latest version of the free edition & do I have to uninstall my previous version in order to install this? Thank you.

Hi sweets,

The download link for the AAW 2007 is here: Ad-Aware 2007 Free 7.0.2.3

Please uninstall any previous version (ie: AAW SE 1.06) before installing this version. Once installed, open Ad-Aware and click on "Update" in the main Status window.

Firstly, you will be offered the latest Definition file (0031), then you should be offered the latest Software Update to v 7.0.2.5.

Spike

Every time I close the new program of Ad Aware 2007 free version I'm asked, "Your setting changes have not been saved. Do you want to change your setting changes?" I don't why I'm being asked this or how I'm supposed to respond. Usually after I download the latest updates I run a scan & delete everything that has been found during the scan so, what am I supposed to say here, please?

Go to "Settings > Browsers":

Click on "Reset" which will take AAW 2007 back to the default settings. Then check under each tab on the Settings section, to make sure that your chosen settings are selected, then click on "Save".

You should not have to this more than once.

Save your settings as described above, then you should be able to scan/delete etc, as usual. To make sure that you have the latest Definitions, please navigate to the Definition Updates section of the forum. Then click on "Options" in the blue title-bar:

Click on "Subscribe to this forum":

Then select your email notification preferences (I have "Immediate Notification" selected).

Once you have completed this small task, you will receive an email whenever a new Defs file is released (please ignore any emails regarding "Beta" defs).

In the screenshot of the "Browsers" tab posted above, click on "Read Setting" - this should change the Default Home and Search Pages to those which you have set in your actual Browser's internet settings.

Spike

(NB: Please don't forget to click on "Save" after doing this).

Is it absolutely necessary to "Save My Setting Changes" after running a scan on the new free edition of Ad-Aware 2007? I'm not sure what I'm doing and don't want to mess up. This was never asked after running a scan with the previous older 1.06 free version of Ad-Aware. Can I just run a scan with the latest definions and close the program, won't that be just as good?
spike-nz
Hi sweets,

Once you have clicked on "Read Setting" (as per my last post and screenshot further up), you should only have to Save your "Default Home and Search Pages" settings once.

The only time that the prompt message to Save should appear is after an actual settings change - otherwise scanning and closing should be the same as you are used to.
