In the course of downloading the software update for 7.0.2.5, when the display had reached 23% in "Downloading .../public/aaw2007/adaware2007exe", I got an error message "...has encountered a problem and needs to close." The details of the error were:

Event type: BEX
P1: aawservice.exe
P2: 7.0.2.3
P3: 46f8afce
P4: aawservice.exe
P5: 7.0.2.3
P6: 46f8afce
P7: 00036208
P8: c0000409
P9: 00000000

The next message was "Update complete", followed by "System error 1814 has occurred ... application terminated".

Now I don't know if I've got an updated system or a 23% updated system or what. Would it be best to uninstall and download all over again?

System is the free version running on Win SP SP2. Other security software is ZoneAlarm firewall + antivirus. I get the "...encountered a problem and needs to close" error every time I update to a new def. file - I reported it back in August - but this time I'm concerned about whether the software update to 7.0.2.5 completed properly.

In a word, no wink.gif

Firstly, as AAW 2007 is loading this GUI appears, which shows your current version:

Secondly, once open you can click on the "Information" symbol which will open a window with the current version listed:

If either/both still show v7.0.2.3, then click on the "Update" button and try downloading the Software Update again (this time, you should be offered the Defs update to 0031 first). I personally encountered this problem quite a while back, and re-downloading the Software Updates fixed it quite simply for me.

Spike

NB: The "crash" after downloading the Defs is known and being worked on - I reported it again myself at the last Defs update (0030)

OK, both those displays show 7.0.2.5, and it has done a smart scan OK, so I guess all is well.

You're welcome, John.

Good to read that all appears well now - don't hesitate to post back if you should have any future problems.

Spike
