Hi,

There used to be a statement on these forums that Ad-Aware would be comptible with Vista 64 bit sometime late this year. This now seems to have dissappeared. I have e-mailed Lavasoft asking about this and received a meaningless answer. Does anyone have any idea of what the current plans are or am I going to abandon Ad-Aware totally and go with other utilities? I currently use Ad-Aware Plus in conjunction with Spybot.

You're quite right - that is the info that we all have. No exact date, simply towards the end of the year.

Some people on Vista64 have been able to upgrade to AAW 2007 Plus/Pro using certain workarounds, however they are in the minority. If you want, I can guide you through these steps.

I would however advise you to stay with AAW SE until Vista64 is officially supported.

Please keep an eye on the Lavasoft Blog and Lavasoft News for detailed updates on progress.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to post back. I am now subscribed to this Topic.

Hi spike-nz,

Thanks for the info. I'll wait until Ad-Aware SE is no longer supported (supposedly also the end of the year). If there isn't a Vista 64 compatible version by then I'll be off. What annoys me is the reluctance of software producers to either a. give release dates or b. converse with customers on a meaningful level. Lavasoft are by no means alone here but it simply doesn't achieve anything.

Hello AlanC,

That isn't a "reluctance" to give a release date. In any software development, it is impossible to predict the future and know exactly when a product will be ready for final release. The old saying here goes..."When it is ready" and even then, if certain bugs are found and need to be worked out, then the estimated release dates can change. I'm sure you have noticed the same with any other product and probably the most visible being Microsoft as in the release of, for example, Vista. They are on a much bigger scale, of course, but the same principle holds true for any software out there working on new releases. So the release of the new compatibility version for 64bit can only be estimated and tell you that they are working on it.
