Hi Kim,

I've merged your topics into one here so we can keep up.

Since you have uninstalled Ad-Aware 2007 it makes it difficult to troubleshoot, however, depending on how long ago that happened do you remember what version you were using and had you updated it via webupdate since July 6,2007 (update 7.0.1.5 or later)? I'm asking about that date because a program update came out that day to fix that known bug affecting scanning of archives

Yes, I had updated it as late as September, so yes, that update was installed.

Ok

I just can't troubleshoot further though if you aren't running it at present. If you do re-install 2007 after SE expires and still experience problems, do let us know here. I'm running the exact same operating system here and no problems so it might be something specific on your machine.

Do you want me to reinstall 2007 and see what happens? I don't mind, if it will help.

Sure! smile.gif

Be sure to get the program updates for it before scanning though. There should be a number of them that it will need to get up to date on the latest - and those will be different from the Definition updates which it will also try to fetch. You may need to close the program (or maybe even reboot) then open it again for a new scan with all the updates.

I just ran mine to update and had some waiting for me. Updated, rebooted (not sure that was needed), then I scanned and while it hesitated a bit on some archives (probably due to their size), I didn't get an error or a permanent hang. (XP Media Center also SP2)

Okay, I will uninstall SE and reinstall 2007 and update it first and let you know what happens.
Thanks,

Hi,
I ran the first scan just fine, it's usually the scans after the first one that won't complete. So far, so good. Will let you know after the second one finishes.

rolleyes.gif Hi Calamity Jane,
The second did just fine! I'm going to restart my computer and try one more time, but I think whatever was hanging it up before must have been fixed.
Thanks,
Kim

I'll leave this open a bit then, to see if you have any further issues
