Trying to install aaw2007 on a windows xp based system. Many of the files on this system have been moved to another computer. previously had adaware se on it, but it is no longer on the computer. Saved file to desktop, since previous install had the same problem when I clicked run. Have done everything I can to locate the path to correct the problem, but now I am dum-founded. Can You help.

I take that you mean your personal files, not OS files...


Personally, I have a folder called C:\My Documents\Downloaded Programs\ (rather than the generic C:\My Downloads) with sub-folders for each program. That way, I can find whatever program I need.

The executable for AAW 2007 is called aaw2007.exe - now that the same file is used for all three versions of AAW 2007 (Free, Plus & Pro) it is much bigger, around 18MB.

Firstly, download and run the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility from here and run that. In the list of programs detected by the WICU, locate any reference to Ad-Aware and select it, then click on "Remove".

Then download Ad-Aware 2007 7.0.2.3 to a place (like mine above) where you can easily locate it and try installing again.

The program itself will install to the default path of C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\ - however log files etc are now located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware 2007\
