Hi, longtime customer and generally pleased with your product and service. However, I've got Ad-Aware 2007 installed on a machine running Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition. It ran the first time I scanned and it hasn't run properly since. It consistently hangs either in Smart Scan or Full Scan mode when it gets to "preparing GUID scanning". Taking a tip from the Spybot forums, I tried running Ad-Aware as administrator. My wife and I are both admins on this machine.

Microsoft's event viewer reports:

Welcome to the Lavasoft Support Forum

Unfortunately Ad-Aware 2007 is not fully Vista 64 bit compatible. It supported 32 Bit Vista but not 64 bit fully yet.
The Lavasoft Dev Team is working on it, so hang in there.

Hi dv8or70,

Please see my post at the end of this Topic: Hangs On Guid Scanning

It covers suggested work-arounds that may (or may not) assist 64-bit Vista users...

Official support for Vista 64 was reported as being intended for release for the end of the year - we have had no advice to contradict this as yet.

Thank you both. I too have Vista Ultimate 64 bit and same problem. I will try what you recommended Spike. I am eagerly awaiting the update!!!!

Thank you for the replies. I, too, eagerly await the 64 bit support. I tried Spyke's suggestions, but they didn't work out for me. Instead, I set up a custom scan that bypasses the registry scan. It's far from ideal, but since I use other scanners and a firewall, I'm hoping that it will suffice until Lavasoft updates their support.
