It depends on which version of Ad-Aware that you are running.
For Ad-Aware 2007, please follow the steps in this FAQ: I cannot update the Definitions File. What should I do?
If you are still using the older Ad-Aware SE (1.06r1), the this is the FAQ which applies: I Cannot Perform Web Update Of The Definition File After Upgrading To Build 1.06 (error Retrieving Update)
