I downloaded the free edition of ad aware 2007. It never used to run in the system tray (near the clock lower right hand corner) when I start up my computer. I recently had problems with adaware 2007 freezing up, so I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it again from cnets site. Now when I start up my computer a little icon is running all the time near the clock (lower right hand side). It says it is adawares scheduled scan icon. I dont run sceduled scans and I dont want it running in the background using system resourses. It never ran in the background before so I dont know why its running now. Are there different versions of adaware free 2007 out there, and how do I turn it off or get rid of it? Thanks.

Hi reconman,

There was a program update a week or two ago, which removed the icon from the system-tray except when a scheduled scan is running (available only in the licensed Plus & Pro versions).

To remove this feature, once you have opened Ad-Aware 2007, click on "Updates" - firstly it will check for updated Definition Files. Then it will check for Program Upgrades - accept these, let them download, and you will then have the latest version of AAW 2007 (and the icon will be gone).

At this time, the only way to check for program upgrades is to follow this procedure - future upgrades should allow for an auto-update feature.

Spike
